FIRES.

By Telegraph.—Preßa Association. Wellington, Last Night. A fire at Kilbiraie this morning destroyed a 17-roomed boarding Souse and another house, and partly destroyed a third dwelling. The buildings were owned by Mr Phillips, of Kilbir-i are. They were insured for a total of £3200, it is understood with the Liverpool and London and Globe i_u. Christchurch. Saturday Night. The grocery and bakery premises oi Messrs. (J. H. Agar and Co., Lyttelton. ■ were destroyed by fire between throe and four o'clock this morning. The premises consisted of two storeys, the upper part being used as a residence by Mr. and Mrs. J. Oelletty, As far as could be discovered the lire started m the shop. It spread quickly to the upper storey, and did not give time for any of the stock or of Jlr. ami Mrs. Gelletty's furniture to be saved. Thi> brigade saved the building from complete destruction, but the loss both of the building and its contents was praeticftlly complete, The premises insured in the Victoria office for £350, but the loss is roughly estimated at double that amount. The stock, valued at between £GOO and £7OO, was uninsured. Mr. Gelletty's loss of furniture was partially cowred by a polcy for £l3O.

' INCENDIARISM AT OAMARU. Qamarn, Last Night. Three apparently deliberate attempts at incendiarism were perpetuated at an early hour this morning. The flre bri-l gadc was called to a flic at the tennil pavilion and this was subdued. The circumstances were suspicious. At a later hour, the same place was found to be on fire, a tin of kerosene bavin? been thrown about the building. Later a inn vine store was found to be on flre the back door having been broken open". None of the places were insured.
