FEMALE SHOP-LIFTERS. By Telegraph.— Trots Association. Dunedin, sturdily Night. This morning at the Police Court, Georgina Dusiirtfie and Susan Watt were charged with a, series of thefts from drapery shops. The articles which formed the subject of the charges were a lady's costume and drill shirt from the Drapery Supply Association, a pair of trousers from tile Cash Trading Company, a pair of boots from H. Skinner, and two drill blouses, a tea pot, shirt, and a piece of plate from some person unknown. DcsarUie pleaded guilty and Watt was found guilty. The .police stated that both were und'>r the influence of liquor when arrested. Accused were remanded till Monday to see if some arrangement could he made with the Salvation Army Home.

AN APPEAL DISMISSED. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court yesterday, - Mr Justice Cooper delivered his reserved judgment in a ease in which John Franldyn Smith appealed against his conviction on a charge of sly-grog sell- 1 ing in Wellington. The ground of thu appeal was that the evidence of two probationary constables upon which Smith's conviction was based was nutcorroborated by any of the witnesses. 1 The appeal was dismissed.
