Wilkinson Newall Road The Ekelalnina Express" states that a candidate in an adjoining coiisiituency liuds it necessary to carry around witli him a certificate' of his marriage to controvert statements made against his character for electioneering. Mr. W. F. Massey (Leader of the Opposition) addressed a large audience at Woodville on Tuesday night. He spoke for about two hours on the leading political subjects. At'the conclusion he answered a number of questions. He was very pleased with his reception. Mr. Massey leaves Wellington tonight for the South Island. There was a very line attendance at Mr. C. E. Bellringer's meeting at Waiongoua on Tuesday night. Mr. Kenwood occupied the chair. I„ his address Mo. Bellringer expressed approval of the « policy of the Government, and defended ] it against the attacks of the Opposition. , Referring to the dairy regulations. !n> , said that the Opposition was making , all the political capital possible out of ( them, and that there was much exaggeration and misrepresentation indulged in. The Government was on'v desirous of helping the dairy industry. If the regiilalioti- were found to be oppressive or anything in the nature of arbitrary enforcement wns attempted he would Strongly oppose it. The address was frequently applauded, and at the close a unanimous vote of thanks was passed. A large number of questions were asked and replied to. h
