BIG CANAL SCHEME. London, October 23. The Glasgow Corporation intends to ipotition the Government to proceed with the construction of a ship canal from the Forth to the Clyde. AMERICAN FACTORIES FOR iiUKLAND. New York, October 24. There is a prospect that as a result of the representations of Mr. John Redmond, the leader of the Irish Nationalist Party, who has been on a visit to America, several American manufacturers may establish factories in Ireland. This would not only provide work for the people of Ireland, but would enable the manufacturers to .e----tain patent rights which under the new Patent l,nw of Britain, they would lose if they did not manufacture the patented articles in the United Kingdwn.
BRITAIN AND GERMANY COMPARED. Received 25, 4.30 p.m. London, October 24. In the House of Commons, Mr. WinBton Churchill, in reply to Earl Winterton, admitted there wns somewhat more unemployment in Britain than h> Germany.
