ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
IIXQUEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christen urch, Last Night. An inquest was held this afternoon, at the morgue, before Mr H. W. Bishop, District Coroner, on James Gallagher, an old age pensioner, who died this morning at Chreyke street. After hearing evidence, the Coroner, who sav without a jury, returned a verdict of heart failure following general peritonitis,
FA/AL KIDUNO ACCIDENT. Napier, Last Night, Mrs. Phyllis .Brookes, aged about 40, who was cm/ployed as barmaid at" the Criterion Hotel, met with a fatal accident while out riding to-day. Her horse refused to jhiss a trap on the Peiane bridge at Port Ahuriri and turned round and bolted to near the comer of Shakespeare and Battery roads. Mrs. Urooke was thrown, and she was dragged for a short distance. Her skull was fractured, and she died at the hospital about three • hours' later. She has a son at Studholme Junction and a brother at Clinton.
KILLED BY A PALLING TREE. Wanganiii, Last Night, A fatal accident occurred at Parapara on Friday night, when a Wanganui resident named John Seally was killed by a tree falling on him while sleeping fa his tent.

Deceased was very deaf, and had been repeatedly warned to keep off the line. Ho was an old age pensioner and was well-known throughout the district,
An unfortunate accident liappoiicit to llr. Tom. Frauds, plumber, of Silver street, slinrlly before noon on Saturday. As Sir. Francis was cycling down Dawson street another cyclist, who -was proceeding along Devon sliver, collide;! witli him. and a rather serious mix-up ensued. llr. Francis had his leg broken above Hie knee, and the knee was badly wrenched. .The 'other cyclist got off with a few bruises.
