THE AMERICAN FLEET.
AT YOKOHAMA, . . Tokio, October 18. Admiral Sperry's fleet of American battleships has reached Yokohama. EXTRAORDINARY ENTHUSIASM AMERICA ACCLAIMED.
Received 10,10.45 p.m. Tokio, October 10. The American fleet, escorted by Japanese cruisers, entered Yokohama hM'bor amid the discharge of fireworks and salutes from sixteen Japanese battleships and shore batteries. The Japanese battleships anchored In column* astern of the American fleet. Extraordinary enthusiasm was shown. The Stars and Stripes and the Rising Sun were seen everywhere. The Japanese newspapers declare that Japan owes to America undying gratitude for leading her into the light Of modern civilisation and treating her with uniform and profound friendship.
