THE TIME LIMIT. \ Received 18, 8.12 p.m. London, October 17. M'r. Bottomley's amendment to the Licensing Bill, to make Hip time limit2l* years, was negatived by 28? to 110. Mr. Asquilh announced he was quite prepared to entertain a suggestion t'i»t for a short term of years—it would be probably swen after the fourteen when old licenses were rv-j»raiued—a re-grant would not require an immediate surrender of the monopoly value, la other words, the State would postpone the resumption of tlie monopoly value of the. surviving houses until the expiration of the additional term.
Mr. Harcourt's amendment bringing both "oft" and "on'' licenses under the time limit, irits carried.
