PETROLEUM.
All informal meeting of shareholders! in the inglewood Uil JJoiing and Prospecting Company was held on Tuesday' lor the purpose of considering the future conduct of the company. It is understood that as a result of the meeting tlxe directors will proceed to obtain a geological report from the Mokiu district. The No. i bore of the Taranaki I'etrnlounL Company continues practicably dry. On Tuesday there was again u considerable flow of gas from the well. At noon yesterday whilst a number of directors of tlie Taranaki I'etrolcuiii Company were in the vicinity of Xo. 2 bore they heard what was apparently an explosion, anu on proceeding to the well found that, whilst the tools were being lifted after drilling there bad been a further explosion of gas, oil, mud and silt being thrown over the top of the derrick. Shares in the Taranaki Company have improved, sales being effected at ss.
