The quarterly meeting of the exeeu- j tive of the Friendly Societies' Associ ition was held at Stratford on Tuesday. •The statement of accounts showed a very satisfactory state of affairs. Since •the present secretary (liro. I'. Ainoore, Eltlmm Lodge, J.0.0.1'., -M.C.) took, charge, over £250 of back debts Lis been paid off. The present slatenie.'l shows that the association owes £7l to hospital boards, the lodges' unpaid contributions total £Ol, and the cash ;n hand is £4B, leaving the association ■with £3B to the good. Owing to the advanced rate of charges made by the Xew r Plymouth Hospital Board, the following motion, proposed by Bro. Hobbs (Xeiv Plymouth) and seconded by liro. Betts (Kaponga), was carried: —"That an extraordinary general meeting of delegates of all lodges connected with the. association be held in the Foresters' Hall on Thursday, November l'Jlh, at 3 p.m., for the purpose of discussing the rise in hospital charges and the advisability of limiting the amount of payment ami also the revising of the rules.''
The accounts sent in by a certain lodge were ordered not to be paid until such time as the secretary should receive a list of members on the roll of the lodge. Twenty-two lodges are now in the Association, with a total membership of over 1100.
