The Rev. Mr. Dove, who lias been appointed headmaster of the Wanganui Collegiate School, is to be married in England at Christmas to a distant cousin. lie comes out at Easter to his new appointment. We regret to hear that Mr. R. L Stanford, S.M., of Wanganui, and lat( of New Plymouth, is seriously imiii posed. The death is recorded of Wiremu Ma , tenga te Waliaroa, who is described ai ■ the Inst of the old chiefs of the ltotorui district. The funeral took place 01 Saturday afternoon. It is understood that the Hon. W Hall-Jones will probably not leave t< take up his new position as High Com missioner until the end of November In that case lie will be able to assist his colleagues in their Ministerial dutiei while they are electioneering.
