THE HAWERA CLl'li. Tin- sixth animal meeting of the llnwera Amateur Swimming Club was lu' O ou Tuesday evening. The report staled that the club commenced the season with a bank balance of £l4 !)s sd, uut closed with the sumil surplus of 15s Oil. Some of the improvements effected bv the club at the baths were the instalUtion of the eleeui c light and the erection of a water ciiute. The cost of the latter was .£ls. £lO of which wis donated by ill . C. E. Major, lIP. The West Coast championship meeting held in Hawera resulted in a deficiency of £ls. Tlie evening carnivals were a decided success. The report, suggested th< advisability of fostering swimming amongst the school-children by holding races.
