TURF TOPIC'S. (By "Moturoa.") Kareroa, wlio was not seen under si'k on the first day at Wanganui, is considered a likely starter in the Owen Handicap. Rangipapa ran well in the Flying, and was in front after going five furlongs, lint Tiptoe was too fast over the fiual sprint, and won very easily. Crucinella was given "a liier" in t;ie Putiki Hack Race, and wion easily by over three lengths. The daughter of Sun Francisco is so well at present tint she could have won under leas favorable conditions.
I The Advance filly Advantage is another who will make her first appearance at Wanganui to-day. She has been nominated lor the Stewards' Handicap at Riccarton, so her connections must consider her a cut above hacks." Exmoor had the softest of victories
in the Okehu Hurdles, leading throughout and winning comfortably. Nothing could have stopped the Grafton gelding that afternoon.
Climax, who finished third to Exmoor and Showman, has dropped to luick company to-day. Papareahi finished out of a place in tlie Gonville Hurdles, but the Papakura gelding is tanking bright and well after his double win at Rangitikei. Glenullin got away badly in the Spring Handicap on Thursday, but made up a lot of ground and was galloping faster than anything at the finish. Mr. E. J. Watt is reputed to own a smart sprinter in Wimmera, a full •brother to Boomerang. The son of Merriwee put in a sensational dash at the finish of the Maiden at Ringitikei, and just failed to reach The Saint by a sliort head. A saint's head is usually represented with a ring encircling it, and Wimmera just got to the ring! 'Frisco, whose record at Marton read: "First day last—last day first," and who since experienced the Varying tastes of disqualification and reinstatement, figures at the head of the list in the Jlarangai Handicap, a race he won last year under Bst.
The rcmarkaiile Tiptoe by his win in open company on Thursday now ranks as something out of the ordinary run of nrddy-aneat, and his performance in company with first-class sprinters in the Marangai Handicap should be briratul of interest.
"Tartar" Julian, the successful Auckland hurdle-horseman, has been engaged to pilot Mark Time in the Maiden Hurdles at Avondale.
A further budget of Turf Topics ip ■ars in to-day's supplement.
