NORTH 'TARANAKI CRICKET AS'SOCIATTON. The annual general meeting of the -North laranaki Cricket Association was Hi' d last evening. There was a go.nl attendance of delegates. Mr. S. Hill (president) presided.

He looked forward to the time when.Saturday would be tli L . universal half-holiday, as' this would be beneficial to all sport. This year he ~.\peeted to see mere representative matches with 'Taranaki. Another matter that, required attention was the uniting of the north ami south ends of the province under one association. The chairman paid a tribute to the secretary's work during the year. Mr. Whittle had been most whole-hearted, was a great sport, and had not spared his pocket. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Ollieers were elected as under: President, Mr. Waller Weston; secre-j tary, Mr. K. Whittle (re-elected); treasurer, Air. A. H. Steeds (re-elected.); championship committee, Messrs. \V. IVrham, E. Whittle, and V. Elliott.; delegate to -New Zealand Cricket Association, Mr. A. I l '.. Hardy; selection committee, Messrs. Steeds, Crombie, Scholelield. Ilawkings, IVrham; lion, auditor, Mr. 11. Stockor (rc-cloelod) junior committee, .Messrs. E. Avery, Berg, and Rock. Committee for Saturday cricket, delegate., id' clubs alliliated with the Association and the secretary. AMENDING RULES.
.Mr. Elliot (New Plymouth Club) moved that section c of rule 2 he altered to read:' "That the president, vice-presi-dents, secretary, and treasurer of the association and the delegate or delegates from each club be entitled to speak and vole at general meetings of the association"; also thai "any other mcmlj.;r of an alliliated club may attend and speak but shall not bo entitled to vote." Rule 3 to be altered by the addition of the words (after the words "one vicepresident from each senior club") "and from each cluM playing in Saturday cricket only." Rule 4 to be altered to read: "The affairs of the association, shall be managed by a committee consisting of the president, the vice-presi-dents, secretary, treasurer,. and delegate or delegates from each club to be nominated by the club. Each senior team shall lie entitled to representation by two delegates; and each junior team and each team playing in Saturday's cricket only, by one delegates. — Carried. GENERAL. The secretary read a clipping from) tho Svdney Daily Telegraph to the effect that the New South Wales teachers' twini which visited New Zealand lash
season had greatly appreciated the hospitality of the North Canterbury Association, also paying im appreciative tribute to Hie Recreation Sports Croiuid and gardens. It was resolved that steps he taken to reunite North and South Tarauaid, and that the association be called the Taranaki Association, with headquarters at New Plymouth, it was stated that this would strengthen a representative team for matches with other provinces. It was decided to request all clubs affiliated with the association to lay down turf wickets.
The meeting decided that the association present a trophy for competition amongst school teams. The secretary was instructed to write to the Itecreation Sports Ground Committee requesting that the association lie given control of the sports ground wicket on same terms as last year, except <>n days that the ground may lie required by 'the Sp'orls Committee for purposes other than cricket. Despite the cold southerly wind, there was a very fair muster of "knights of the willow'' on tine Tukiipa ground yesterday to commence the season. Sides were picked of nine aside, and some good baiting was witnessed. A team made 87 (Jack retired 20, ][. Price 10, Williams 12), and B team 10 (Lash 10, Baker 10). Braund for the former and Baker for the losers were the most effective bowlers.
