THE BANKRUPTCY LAWS.

The Auckland Chamber of Commerce iias been agitating for some time • for a revision of tne present bankruptcy laws of the Dominion, and with this object in. view has communicated upon the subject with other Chambers. At the meeting this afternoon, a letter was read stating that the Wellington CUuuuber i« heartily in sympathy with tile Auckland Chamber as to the need of revision of the bankruptcy laws. They proposed -to wait upon tile Government as a deputation from tilie Chamber on this matter. The lnvcrcargill Chamber of Commerce (writing on the same matter) suggested that a committee of each Chamber in the Dominion should be s"t up, who should formulate what amendments are considered necessary, and tliat delegates iro.ni the committee should meet in conference to decide upon what amendments should lie recommended. Mr. W. A. Nathan said it wna a pity sonvething could not have been done with the bankruptcy laws this session.The matter was referred to the finance and general committee.
