WORK AND WAGES.

MINERS' DISSATISFACTION. _ By Telegraph.—Press Association. .Diinedin, Last Night. The decisions of the Arbitration Court in respect of coalmining disputes :a Olago have been far from satisfactory to many of the men. In the Taratu mine some thirty men are employed in hewing coal, and of those twenty-six have notiliod their intention of ceasing work between now and Saturday. About sixty men are employed in the mine altogether, and if twenty-six hewers leave, no doubt others will be affected. It appears that hitherto these men had not been working under an award, and the award given last week will not become operative till Monday next. Before the disputes were argued before the Arbitration Court, the miners' representatives on different occasions stated that in the event of the Court's decision being what they considered unsatisfactory, the ultimate result would be that the workers would leave unsuitable work and seek better circumstances elsewhere. In the meantime the company, so far as can be ascertained, intend to stand '>,(' the terms of the .Court's award. This is the beginning of the slack season in the coal trade, and the demand forfuel is not especially pressing or extensive.
