TARANAKI SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The Tarauaki School Commissioners •h'eld their monthly meeting yesterday. There were present: Messrs. J. Wade (chairman), F. Simpson (Commissioner of Crown Lands), and H. Faull. SUBDIVISIONAL PLAN. The chairman reported having authorised a atlbdivisional surrey of the block of town sections leased to Messrs J. Cook, F. P. Corkill, C. 11. Burgess, and the executors of Siiaws' estate, in order to have the renewal leases properly drawn and registered. lie explained that the land had been leased under t'lie old Act, and only a boundary survey made.—Action approved. THE FITZROY SCHOOL.
The Education Board wrote that tho Fitzroy .School Committee desired to add half-an-aciv of ground to the school ground for the purpose of technical school grounds. The chairman doubted whether tile Commissioners had power to buy land for technical education purposes. The committee had thought the Board might purchase the land and lease it to the committee. The Board could, of course, buy land for addition to the school site, but then tile coinmitlcj expressly staled that the addition was required for technical education purposes. Mr. Simpson said had the committee merely applied for an addition to the school site, there would have ueen nothing to prevent tile Board agreeing to the request. The secretary remarked that there was nothing to prevent the Fitzroy School Committee renting one of the many sections in the locality, for half of Fitzroy was for sale. Mr. Faull: Let them do it . The Board came to the decision not to do anything in the matter. NEW LEASES.
