DAIRY COMPANIES' MEETINGS.
KAPONGA. About 50 shareholders attended the annual meeting of the Kaponga Dairy Factory Company in Monday. The report showed that 10,087,4451bs of milk iiad been received, represented by 413,0501bs butter-fat. from which 403 tons 14cwt of cheese iiad been manufactured; 10.31bs milk going to 111) cheese, and the average test being 3.8. For butter-mating 4,583,0781bs milk had been received, represented by 1!)8,!)81 lbs butter-fat, from which 07 tons 15 cvv't. butter lmd been .made; 22.71bs milk went to lib butter, the average test being 4.0, and the over-run IU. The balance-sheet showed that £27,318 15s lOd was received for cheese sales, £10,370 Gs 5d for butter, and £435 4s 3d profits from Taranaki Freezing Works shares. The chief items of expenditure were: Milk £27,053 13s Bd, ocean freight anil ehajiges £335!) ,2s 2d, salaries £2004, depreciation £1471 (is Od. After some discussion the report and balance-sheet were adopted.
The chairman asked shareholders their opinion regarding the manufacture of butter or cheese for the coming season. The feeling of the meeting was that providing the prioes still kept up butter should be manufactured till the .middle of November, after which cheese be made. The honoraria voted were the same as last year, viz., chairman £3O, directors £5. It was resolved that the company be registered under the Co-operative Dairy Dairy Act, IUO7. The directors elected were: Chas. Bates (re-elected), and Mr Alf Tait, who takes Mr. Wright's place. Mr. W. J. Tristram was appointed auditor. Prior to the above meeting Stock Inspector Deem addressed those present regarding the 30ft race, stating that the authorities did not wish to limit the size of the race. They wished to give the farmers all help possible, pointing out the benefits of such a course, namely, laying the race. He prophesied that in about two years all sheds in the district would carry out the wishes of the Department.
