CAUGHT BY A BELT. By Telegraph,—Preoa Association. Invcicargill, Last Night. At Edendale dairy factory to-day, Mr John Sawyers, of cheese-making fame, was the victim of a nasty accident, lie had disconnected some belting to throw the inacbinej'y out of gear when the belt caught on a projection ou the shaft and drew him up, badly smashing his'ft'g. There is some fear that amputation will be necessary. GREYMOUTII SUICIDE CASE. Greymouth, Last Night. An inquest was held to-day touching I lie death of Edwin Barlow, Who was found shot in his shop on Tuesday night. Evidence was given to the effect that deceased had been drinking heavily lately, and ivag worried over fimvneial nfTnim. The jury returned a verdict that deceased committed suioido by shooting himself while temporarily insane, brought on by excessive drinking.
