THE PREMIER'S SONS.

NOT IN THE 'PUBLIC SERVICE. There was an inference about an interjection at a political meeting uddreU'd by Mr. W. McLean at Wellington on Tuesday evening that the Premier had been" taken to task for apj-, pointing one of his sous to a yvnynnient position. So far is this from, fact that Sic Joseph has c-onsidvred it necessary to call public attention to the actual position, lie 'has written to Mr McLean iii the following tonus:— Dear .Mr. .McLean—l notice that at your meeting one of those present suggested that J had appointed one of my Sons to the public service, which you were good enough to defend, and tor •which"! thank vou. T shall be glad* however, if you'will kindly slate upon, my authority at your next meeting, that none of my sons have been appointed to uny position in the Government or public- service, nor have any of them at any time received any moneys directly or indirectly from the Government'for any services. lam also very happy to slate that three of my sons; who have arrived at an age when it becomes necessary for them to make their own way in the world, long a™ decided what'their work in life, should lie, and that is not in any t branch of tihe Government or public service.—(Signed) J. G, Ward.
