FOOTBALL.
' The Taranaki Rugby Union has invited the Auckland Rugby Union to send the team which defeated Taranakiat Auckland last week -to play a return match at New Plymouth, on Thursday, 24th inst. J The Taranaki team meets Otago et Hawera on Wednesday, 18th inst. The local players will probably assemble in Hawera on the Monday. The promoters ot the Northern Union game in New Plymouth are having difficulty in securing a ground for a match against the Auckland team on the 10th inst. The N.Z.R.U. has threatened to disqualify uhe Recreation Bports Ground for amateur matches if (the ground is used by the professionals, the Western Park, is under the plough, and the racecourse is being used on that date for the Hunt Club race meeting.
