FORCIBLE EJECTION.
FROM A FOOTBALL GRANDSTAND. ACTION AGAINST POLICE SERGEANT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Nignt. At the District Court on Saturday, ■Tames Joseph Kennedy claimed from Nathaniel Miller, Sergeant of Police at Masterton, the sum of £2OO damages. On the occasion of the Anglo-Welsh-Wairarapa football match at Masterton, .plaintiff stated he paid to go on the grandstand, took his seat on which no notice of reservation was affixed, and was forcibly removed by defendant. After retiring for two hours and thirty-five minutes, the jury found: (1) That plaintiff was not in such a, state of drunkenness as would justify his removal; (2) that the seats were reserved in a reasonable-way and with reasonable notice to planting (.1) that defendant used unnecessary force in removing plaintiff. They found for plaintiff with £5 damages.
