A RISKY GAIETY.
MAN IN FEMALE ATTIRE. Dy Telegraph,- Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A dangerous mode of 'amusement was devised by a young man named Denis Win. Quill, when lie took IV masquerading in feminine attirei through the public streets. Attired as ti woman, Quill was apprehended in Pirie street or thereabouts one night lately, after ten o'clock, and conducted to tilic police station, 'lnis morning accused, defended by Mr. Devine, appear-,; cd .before Mr. W. P. James, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court, charged with being an idle and disorderly person within the meaning of the Police Offences Act, and with masquerading in tin: dress of a woman. In defence, it was urged that the accused had not, j been seen interfering wiifli passers-by lin any way, and had donned the strange garments merely as a means of providing himself with a new gaiety. The borrowed plumes were exhibited. They 'had come in for some rough treatment while accused was being chaperoned to tlio police station, and were a mass' of disorder. Quill assured the Bench that he had bought thorn cheap out of sheer devilment, wearing l them for a similar fantasy. His Worship pointed out that accused was liaWe to a Sentence of six months' imprisonment for the offence, and admonished him to forego jokes of such a' nature. The charge was dismissed.
