NEW PLYMOUTH BOWLING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Mow Plymouth Bowling Club was held at the Pavilion last evening. members attended. Tihe president (Mr K. Coek) occupied the chair. ANNUAL IMPORT. The committee in presenting the report ior tiro past season, congratulated members 011 the prosperity of the club. The balance-siieot for tile year showed a credit balance of £lO 9s lOd, and considering Uiie heavy expenditure during the year this must be considered satisfactory. At the last annual meeting $ resolution was passed instructing l-lie committee to pay oil'£3o of debentures, but it had Oecn loiuul impossible to do thi>, and I lie amount of debentures remained at the same sum as last year, viz., X2SO. The new entrance to tiie green erected as a memorial to our late president, Mr. Jas. Paul, was now completed, 'xue pi;\ns and specifications were supplied by Mr. Sanderson, who gave his Servic-ja as architect without charge. rue contractor for the work was Mr. ]lowso';i, and he completed tilie work to Mr. -Sanjjatisfact/ou. The total cost of the work was £B3 3s, subscriptions received being£7B lis tid, Miuscripuuns not paid Cl lis (id, leaving a deficit of £■4 lis (id. inter-dun 111;! toil 0:1 wry; played as follow:;: —v. Hawera ai liawera, v. Waverlcy at Waverley, r. Inglewood at Inglewood, and v.' Waitara at Waitara; on our own green, v. SI. John's (Wanganui), v. Maitai (Xelson), v. Stratford, v. Unworn, aim v. Inglewood. Tire only match lost was that at Hawera. Tlio club was represented at the X.B.A. tournament at Auckland, and at the T.B.A. tournament held at Hawera, hut in neither did ' our representatives gain first place. The usual club matches were played, and resulted in Mr. W. Bundle winning til c champion cup, Messrs. Fookes and Humphries the pairs' handicap, I[r A. K. Smart the single handicap, with Mr. L. Bullot as runner-up. The special prize presented hv Mr. S. Percy Smith was won by' Mr. O. Wright. It was with regret that the committee had to record the deaths of Messrs. S. .Taekson, Salmon, Nicholas. a~id A. B. Fookes. The report and balance-sheet v.crc adopted. FLECTION Of OFFICIOUS. Ollicers wore elected as under: President, Jlr. It. Cock (re-elected); vice-presidents. Messrs CJ. Grey and R, (ioldwak-r; secretary ami treasurer, ill'. W. X. Jiwiug (re-elected); auditor, Mr. Ahier; committee, Messrs. A. 1). lira.v, liibbons, Morrison, Burgess, J. Stuart, and Hall.
GENEKAL Seven new members were ejected. It. was iv.isolved that rules 21 and 22 oe rescinded and the following substitilled: Xllat the name of every new member proposed be posted in tiie downstairs room 14 days prior to tihe ballot for election, the first ballot to take place 14 day* afier the opening clay; also that proposed members lie honorary members until the day of ballot. The deficit of Jl4 lis (id oh the account for tlic memorial gate erected to the late Mr. Jas, Paul, was subscribed in 1 lie room. Only one member resigned during tile year. Mr. Hall road a record showing tiliat there were 3UBD players on the ground last season and that bowls were played on 147 days. Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing officers, the ladies, donors of prizes, and the Press. At the conclusion of the business trophies won during tire year were presented by tihe president. The prize donated by the late Mr. A. B. li. Fuokes and won bv Mr. Bu,l- - was handed back to Hie elub owing to the winner having left the district. The customary vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
