TATTERSALLS SWEEPS.
THE LATE GEOIIGE ADAMS' ESTATE HIS CHARITABLE GIFTS. THE LEGAL POSITION. Received 27, 8.55 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. The High Court dismissed the State Attorney-General's appeal against Justice Street's decision that the whole charitable gifts under the late George Adams' will were void on account of their uncertainty. When other appeals involved in the case were called on counsel announced that a settlement had been reached, satisfactory alike to W. J. Adams, to the Tasmanian ■ property beneficiaries, and the beneficiaries of Tattersall's sweep business. One of the provisions | of the agreement confirms the action of j the trustees of the estate in distributing unclaimed prize-moneys from the year 1897, as they become statutebarred, amongst the charities of tae States of the Commonwealth and in New Zealand. It also authorises the continuance of the distribution of such moneys, so that full effect will be given to the wishes of the testator m this respect.
