Auckland, Lust Night. The local agents state that the Aeon ia well provisioned, and lias duplicates in all the more important parts of her machinery, including extra tail shaft. Tile first opinion that* something Imd happened to her machinery ia now giving place to graver iears, owing to tlie prolonged absence of news of the vuatol.
The steamer Lord Scfton left San Francisco on August 2nd for the same j ports as the Aeon, excepting Napier, and it is possible that she will iiave news of the missing steamer. The Lord Lofton is scheduled to reach Auckland on the 3lst of this month. % The Yeddo, which left Newcastle last week, is also searching for the missing steamer.
