WANGANUI v. llAVVlvli'S BAY. J By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wangaaui, Last Night. J-lUs afternoon the Wanganui hockev rep. team defeated llawkc's Hay by one goal to nil. Despite the recent nihil the Recreation Ground. was in good order, and a last game «-as witnessed by nearly a thousand spectators. The local team commeucea the attack, but hard hitting o u both, sides kept the game open and interesting. The spell ended with 110 score. In the second half Wanganui had rather the advantage but erratic shooting prevented scoring. A good dribbling rush by Coe and a sharp :pas s to Thomson resulted in the only score during the game. lIAWKE'S BAY v. TAKANAKI. TO-MORROW'S MATCH. The first inter-provincial match, between Hawke's Bay and Taranaki, will be played to-morrow on the Recreation Sports Ground. Jt was inadvertently stated in our last issue that the match would be played on the Racecourse ground. The Sports Ground i s to bo well rolled and marked out, and shouii be in fair condition for Saturday. The ground is a very fast one, and an Interesting and open exposition of this increasingly popular winter game shou'.d be witnessed. The match will commence at 2.30 p.m. The Hawke's Bay team will arrive by to-night's express from Wanganui, and will remain here over Sunday, staying at the Imperial Hotel.

The cup fixture between New Plymouth and Carrington Road was played on the Racecourse yesterday and resulted in a will for New Plymouth by (i goals to 2. Goals were scored by Fagan (2), Wood (2), Anderson and Rcid for New Plymouth, and E. McAllum ami Perham for Carrington Road. Mr. F. Robertson was the referee.
