Ity Tolo^iu|jh.—l'ress Association. Wellington, Last Night. In tlto Supreme Court to-day, Jarnss I Madder anil Henry Mather were sentenced on a charge of breaking nil 1 entering. Madder, who admitted convictions nt (jisborne, Wellington, and Chris tchureh, was sentenced to throe years' imprisonment and declared to lie an habitual criminal. iMather was sentenced to three years' imprisonment. Wellington, Last Night. George Oram was charged at the Supieme Court with having burglariously broken and entered the -shop of Thomas Crouch in Wellington; and stolen thereirom a large quantity of jewellery. After a lengthy hearing accused was found not guilty.

STIRLING} HOTEL CASE. Duncdin, Last Night. The jury in the Cornish case retired lor lunch and deliberation at 11.30 a.m. and returned at 3.15 p.m. with a verdict of not guilty, and accused was discharged. CERrS'JXJH C'RCH SITTINGS.

Christchnrch, Last Night. The criminal sittings of the- Supreme Court were resumed before Mr. Justice Denniston this morning. David Courtcnay was indicted for that on flth Novcnvlicr, 1!I07, at liiecarton lie stole from the person of .Mieluiel Ryan a purse containing seven one 'half-sov-ereign, ami a cheque for one guinea. lie was convicted and sentenced to three years' imprisonment, to run concurrently with a sentence of a similar period that accused is serving for assault and robbery. Beatrice Toofee was indicted for that on 30th May, by striking Alexander McNeil on the head, she had caused him actual bodily harm. Accused was acquitted. William I'reston and Alexander Gardener were convicted of the theft of £5. Sentence was deferred till to-lfforrow.
