DEPRESSION IN ENGLAND.
| THE UNEMPLOYED RETURNS. London, August 14V The Local Government Board has issued a return showing that during the year ending March lost 00,057 applied for relief under the Unemployed Workmen Act. Thoro were 32,024 in Lonrtoft and 57,435 in the provinces—3ooo more Imi tho previous year. The increase ias chiefly in London. Tue chief depression was in the engineering, shipbuilding, and iron, steel, and other metal trades.
