PLUCKY RESCUE.

Allien the steamer Monowui was'being tendered for passengers this morning, a well-dressed woman from Wellington, on reaching the deck of the tender steamer Tuatea, stepped overboard. There was a misty sea running •ml she was rapidly carried away. Douglas Hamilton, a member of Frank Thornton's .Dramatic Company, promptly jumped overboard and at great, riskto himself brought the woman to the lit'at which be readied in an exhausted slate. ; The woman said she liad been suffering from melancholia in consequence of the death of a relative.
