TARANAKI NO-LICENSE LEAGUE

The usual monthly meeting of the Tnranaki Xo-License League was held last evening. There was a fair attendance. Mr. H. Goodacre presided. The Rev. J. Laird gave an interesting account of the licensing movement in the Old Country. He instanced one village with a population of one thousand where there were twelve houses in existence. He was pleased to find that in New Zealand such a condition of things did not obtain. He called on the churches to do their duty, - quoting t'ae Rev. Dr. Henry, who said that the world would be free of the liquor when the churches were free of it. A general discussion followed, after which business of a routine order was disposed of.
