Tito Rev. H. F. L. Palmer, rector of I Pt. Mary's Chureh, Sydney, arrives by ('■is morning's boat from Onehunga, hiving been engaged by the New Zenlmid Alliance. Mr. and Mrs. .Tabez Chapman, of Joh/i----sonvllle, who were married sixty yeiw ''' r ° i" London, have just celebrated their diamond wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman have lived in New Zealind ■ thirty-two years, th? whole time at .Tohnsonville. Their ages are eighty-two and seventy-nine respectively, and they are still 111 capital health. Mr. TTenry E. Bransgrove, son of Mr. \Y. Bransgrove. of TJunedin, who died recently at Johannesburg, participated in the .Tamesmi mid, and when' the Boer war broke out he joined the South African Light Horse, and was twice wounded—once at Oolenso, under the late General Roller, and as a member of the Traiisviinl Mounted Rifles lie was entrawl in a conflict with the natives, re* ee'iving assegai wound at Xususi, where lie had a thrilling experience. His sufferings on the latter occasion were intense, and were made greater by the fur-1 that he had to pass through several field hospitals before he reached the base hospital at Durban, where an operation was performed that saved Tilt life.-' Mr. Bransgrove had an interest in ft diamond mine on the Rand, and he also posooaiitd a farm of some 2000 aeres in Uganda.
