MEMBERS OF A PUBLIC BODY. STIFF FINES AND' SENTENCES. Received 9, 4.15 p.m. London, August 8. After a twenty days' trial, all the Mile-End Guardians accused of corruption were found guilty. The Hon. Mr. Justice Phillimoi'e sentenced Alderman Hirst, who has been three times Mayor of Stepney, to pay a fine of £250 and undergo two years' imprisonment. Warren was fined £l5O and one year's imprisonment. The otheis ■were fined £25, with various terms of imprisonment from six to fifteen month*, except Gleeson, who was only fined £250.
