KING HAAKON'S BIRTHDAY.
.» INTEKNATIONAL UHEETINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The birthday of King llaakou, of Norway, which took place to-day, was made the occasion of a display of International courtesies by the Consular representatives of the Powers stationed in Auckland, and during the day the various Consuls called upon Air. lloland St. Clair (Norway's representative in Auckland), in accordance with, diplomatic custom. Mr St. Clair lias only recently returned from Norway, and states that from the King downwards the very I greatest interest is taken by Norwegians in the progress of New Zealand. "The people here," said Mr. St. Clair, "would be surprised to lind how thoroughly everything in connection with New ' Zealand is understood ill Norway. I have just received a letter from the. son of Norway's Premier, Mr. (iiinnar Knudsen in which he says: 'My father has made a hobby of studying New Zealand affairs, and he declares that when he is tired of Norway 'he will go to Nuw Zealand and live there for the rest of his life, as he' thinks that outside, of his own country New Zealand is the best place in tire world.'"
