FARMERS' UNION CONFERENCE

Replying to a deputation from the Varmeiv I'nion Conference, the Premier said lie would be glad to see the Unions representations in regard to the grouping of native lands considered. The Native Laud Commission's recommendations to be submitted to Parliament litis session dealil; with two or three million acres of land, ami if this could be lea it with in a satisfactory way they wou d have done a good deal towards obtaining lands for settlement. The Conferences suggestion in regard to the ratable value of laud was so complicated that he would like i'l pui in writing, lie held out 110 hope of concessions on timber vales. He thought it would be considered in connection with the whole mailer of railway rates. The Conference had not suggested a solution of the I problem in regard to conciliation aiv.l 1 arbitration. What required to be dono was to improve a piece of legislation which upon the whole had been valuable, and I 1 did nut think anything could be gained by the hasty step of saying it was to be repealed.
