By Telegraph.—Piess Association, Christehurch, l-Ast Night. There are Mill openings for a number of men at the railway works at Broken ltircr. About a dozen additional, men will be sent to the works by the Übor Department on Tuesday morning, if in tne meantime advice is received from the engineer in charge that the ueeessary tents for sleeping accommodation have been erected. Arrangements hav;i also lieeu made to send to the worKi anv men from Asliburton who want employment. Mr. A. I). Dobson, city surveyor, stated to-day that lie was getting towards the viul of the *2OO voted by the Council for relief works. Some of the men taken on, however, were getting work elsewhere, and others were being put on to some of the loan works, these being the most competent. Six or seven would be paid oft' to-day, and the remainder,'about twenty, would lie kept on for alaiut another ten days, by which time the money would have become exhausted.
