NEW GAMING ACT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palnierston North, Last Night. 'Hie attention of the police bavin;. 1 > ilirected to the sporting notes o "Asmodeous," published in the Mana watii Daily Times on 18th instant, Mr K B. Hobon, as proprietor, has received a summons under the Gaming Act, 11108. setting out that he published a suggestion as to the probable result of a"eertam horse race to be run at Trentliam, the said suggestion being in the words following:— -Topics of the Turf.—Today's Trentliam Meeting.—Sir Frisco has been doing some good work on the track, and should he. much fancied in the Parliamentary Handicap t<r-day. Dawn and Seaman should also lie handy when the wmimig-post is reached," contrary to the form of the statute in such' ca-e made and provided. Of the three horses mentioned. Sir Frisco won and Seaman ami Dawn provided second and third respectively in the Parliamentary Handicap. This is the first prosecution of the kind under the new Gaming Act.
