THE LICENSING LAWS.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.
Delegates from the recent annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance waited un the Premier to-day and put before liim (lie resolutions that had been passed. One of the points raised whs the passing of legislation for the carrying of licensing polls by a bare majority. The Premier slated that no licensing lcgislaion would be introduced this session for the very obvious reason that he was certain he could not get it through. As to the bare majority, he thought there should be unanimity on the subject, because he had already had strong representations on the subject from those who were on the side of-the temperance reformers strongly opposing the proposal. They knew also Unit there was strong opposition to it. in Parliament, ami, in asking him to solve the problem, that were asking him something which he could not promise would bo done.
