THIEF CAUGHT IN A TRAP.
ALMOST SUFFOCATED. Perth, July 27. An attempt to rob tho strongroom of Messrs. Drew, Robinson and Company, at Albany, was discovered in a peculiar manner. The firm's branch at Wagin w&B destroyed by Are. A partner of the firm went to the Albany office, to find out particulars oi' insurances. When he opened,the door of the strongroom a man fell into his arms in an unconscious state.
It proved to be one of the employees. He had succeeded in removing the fireproof lining of the door from inside, but the strong outside door still barred his way to freedom. The man recovered with tfhe aid of a restorative. He stated that he had bought a screw-wrench the night before and was placing it in the strong-room when he was locked in. The man has been arrested. But for the timely arrival of 'his employer, he would have died of suffocation.
