THE KENT ROAD SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
To the Editor. ' Kir,—ln your report of the Education Board meeting in Thursday's issue a petition signed by twelve householders of the I'pper Kent road was presented assing for a separate committee of their own and alleging that they had not been represented on the present coimniUe ami tli.it ilie school had been sadly neglected. Now, Sir, those twelve householders who signed the petition have either been misled or they are ignorant of the true facts. In the lirst place, this is the first time they have not been represented on the committee. In 11HI7 they had Messrs. J. U.Allen (chairman), W. Allen, and \Y. Cliattei'ton, each having children attending the school. In'lflUfi they were represented by Messrs. It. Alien (chairman), P. Alexander. \Y. Allen, and A. E. Kest. Saying that the school has been neglected' reilects on those gentlemen and the committee as a whole, and suggests that they did not do their duty; bui this, like the other complaint, is ot true, for the inspector's report and tie) teacher's will prove it. It seems strange, Mr. Editor, that the Education Board, and especially the member representing this district, should allow these complaints to go into print without first finding out whether tlicy were true r not, and not recognising those who in the past have faithfully done their duly and given their time gratis. Surely, if these twelve householders desire to be on their own they could have done so without reflecting on those who have served them well?—I am, etc., O.K.
