THE RUMORED STRIKE, j By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. Regarding the threatened miners' strike, the Hon. J. A. Millar states that he has received information from the West Coast that tiiey have no knowledge of the proposed strike. "i am also informed,'' lie adds, "that if the strike does occur nt can under the worst circumstances only affect the Green Island miners, wuo number 00 or 70. At latest advices there was every prospect of settling the diilicuity. I am pleased to hear that the matter is not likely to be so serious as was, represented by alarmist reports.'' Dunedin, Saturday. The opinion of persons who are well informed on the subject is that there is no immediate prospect of a strike. A
conference has been arranged lor and will be held. The tension apparently is not so keen as when the Minister for Labor made t'he remarks that were .published yesterday.
