GLORIFICATION OF QUEBEC'S FOUNDEK. PRINCE OF WALES' SPEECH. THANKS FRANCE AXD UNITED STATES. THEIR RELATIONS. Received 21, 10.17 p.m. Ottawa, July 24. The feature at Thursday's festivities was the glorification of tile founder of Canada, the great French navigator, Samuel Chaniplaiu.
Replying to Lie address presented by the Mayor of Quebec, the Frincu of Wall's paid a graceful tribute to Chaniplaiu, whose fame had spread throughout the Empire. The Prince was glad to welcome representatives from the furtherst limits of the Em-_ pire. He warmly thanked the United States and France for sending representatives, whose presence was an outward and visible sign of their friendship tlo. Great Britain. land, Mr. C. W. FairbanKs (Vice-President of the United States), in an eloquent' oration, expressed the fervent hope and belief that the relations of the United States, Canada and Great Britain would never against, be disturbed. The great historical procession was highly successful, vividly representing, as it did, the periods of Canada's his-' tory, from Chaniplaiu s limes in 1008 downwards. Karl Dudley (Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia) and ' Lord Ranfurly (New Zealand's reprej tentative) attended the State banquet held in the citadel in the evening. | I
