By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday.

At a meeting of the Stock Exchange tn-dny Mr. Buttle, the chairman, denied the allegation made by Mr. Poland in the House that the Exchange had blocked prospecting. He asserted that there was nothing to prevent the floating of properties outside of the Exchange on whatever terms peopic 'pleased, but for the protection of the public, the Exchange had reserved th~ right to refuse to quote any stock when it was considered that the vendors asked too large a consideration for their interest, and more especially when a considerable portion of the cash subscribed was to go to the vendors instead of to the development of the property. He knew of no "wild cats" having been foisted upon the public with the consent of the Exchange during the last four years in which the Exchange had taken up its present attitude.
