MILLERS IN CONFERENCE. " DEPUTAITONISING MINISTERS,

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The saw-millers of the Dominion, representing a hundred and iifty mills, sat in conference to-day preparatory to a joint conference of millers and timber merchants to enquire into the reasons of such huge importations to the detriment of local mills. It was resolved that all saw-millers present at the conference lie a deputation to interview the Prime Minister and the Minister of Customs, urging upon them the necessity of increasing the import duty on Oregon pine and similar foreign timber used for building purposes.
