MOA ROAD BOARD

A meeting of thii Moa Komi Boai'ii* was held mi Saturday, when there were present: Messrs. Trimble (chairman), Chard, Capper, Cliamney, Lawrence, Sutherland and Young.

On the motion of Mr. (Jhamney, a special order making pennyroyal a noxious weed was made; and a further ortlei' for authorising a rate for a loan on Surrey load was made. The question of Taviki road reserve was brought forward, and Mr. Trimble moved, and Mr. Lawrence seconded;, "That this Board would respectfully urge upon the Oovernment the desirability of acquiring tlie land on Tariki road known as 'West's Jiwsh' for a reservo for scenic and recreation purpose*, and would further urge t'lic necessity for immediate action, if the bush is to be saved from destruction. * A letter from the New Plymouth Harbor Hoard was read, asking the Board to pass a resolution supporting the present Bill.—lt was not considered to be in the Board's province to pass any resolution on Ihe subject.

The tenders of Mr. Neilson for metal on Durham road at 7s tid per yard, and on Batapiko road at l!is per yard, were accepted. Foremen's reports were then laken and the following works arising thereout were, authorised:—Dudley road West, 40 yards of shingle to be put on at tin: same price as last contract (id) and pipe* to be put in as recommended; Dudley road Kast, tenders to be called for 40 yards of gravel; Richinond, Wortley and Jlursihou»o roads, water-tables to be seen to, and on Hursthonsee road 20 yards of nieval to be put on kHween Old's and Ritchie's: LepporUm. settlers 1 attention to be called to the slate of the tunnel; Everett road, Mr. A. VI. Surrey to be informed that he must have the tram line across the road laid down to the satisfaction of the Board's fore/man within a week, or (lie Board will have the work done at his expense: Durham road West, work to be done as reeom-' mended and some broken metal io be obtained; Salisbury road, water-tables to be done; Mangaotea drain to be cleared out; Mangaone, work to be done as the several places require looking after; Egmont road south, foreman
