THE NURSES' HOME.
The members of tlie Hospital Board yesterday afternoon paid an official visit to tlie Xurses' Home, which has just been greatly enlarged and completely renovated. The building is now of two storeys, and contains twenty-two rooms, inclusive of the sanitary block. The rooms generally are spacious and airy, and cheerfully decorated as they should be for women engaged in duties that bring with them great physical and nervous strain and a close acquaintance with the sad side of life, to say nothing of the very nauseous and unpleasant work that regularly falls to their "lot. The senior nurses are on the ground floor, where also is the matron's sleeping apartment, whilst the junior nurses have rooms on the upper iloor, A comfort-ably-furnished sitting-room is found on each iloor, and there "are two balconies opening upon a magniiieent view of New Plymouth, its harbor, and the ocean. Tlie visitors were piloted through tM building by tlie matron, Hiss Brown, who, with the staff, afterwards served afternoon tea upon the main balcony. Sir. Bellringer, the chairman, and ilr. 1). H. McDonald and J. Brown, t'.e oldest members of the Board, congratulated tlie stall' upon entering suitable apartments and upon the excellent reputation which they had earned for the institution, concluding by thanking theni for their hospitality.
