STRIKE OF MILL WORKERS. Calcutta, July 19. •Fourteen thousand mill - workeTs struck here. There .was considerable rioting, and many windows were smashed. Some assaults were made by natives on Europeans. It was found necessary to call out the military. The strikers, 12,000 in number, then resumed work. Artillery corps are still locaied ill the disturbed area. THE RIOT ACT READ. POLICE .FIRE ON THE MOB. Received 20, 10 p.m. Calcutta, July IS). Fourteen thousand Bombay mill hands struck ill order to hasten the granting of autonomy. They pelted Europeans with stones and brickbats; breaking windows. The Riot Act was read and the police fired, dispersing the crowd. No lives were lost.
