| MANUFACTURERS' COMPLAINTS. Received 20, 10.12 p.m. Ottawa, July 20. The Canadian woollen manufacturers asked for increased protection on the ground of the British preference rum-J ing their trade. Sir Wilfrid Laurier declined the request, believing that manufacturers' difficulties were not due to the prefer-" entia] tariff, but to a temporary depression of trade.
