Mr. Michel, who will oppose Mr. T. E. Y, Seddon in the contest for the Westland seat, has opened his campaign. Mr. J. Foster, who contested the Bay of Plenty election three years ago, is a candidate for Ohinemuri.

A Waipawa wire states that a deputation of about two hundred members of the Liberal Party, headed by Mr. John llarker, who formerly contested the seat, waited on Mr. A. C. Jul), president of the Counties' Association, and asked liini to contest the Hawke's Bay election. Those present pledged themselves to support him. Mr. Jull consented to become a candidate.
