Owing to the muddy condition of the roads there has lately been an epidemic of footpath riding, and this morning another "bag" of cyclists, twenty-nine in number, were charged with bicycling on the sidewalks. All manner of excuses were advanced in extenuation of the oftcnee, but in every case but a fine was inflicted. To date the North Canterbury Education Board have received replies from about lifty school committees to the circular sent out regarding the observance of Arbor Day.
