All inlluential deputation tugcu the Government to appoint u committee to inquire into the cattle and meat supply and also asked for the free importation of Canadian store cattle and the admission of cattle slaughtered on arrival from all countries which had been olliciallv declared free of disease. The Premier'(Mr H. 11. Asquith). was sympathetic in his reply. He said the question was so important that he proposed to consult Lord Carrington (Minister for Agriculture), and Mr. Churchill (President of the Board of Trade) before coming to a decision.
